Why I’m Running for U.S. Congress PDF Print E-mail
  • The 10th congressional district is facing urgent issues which need solutions now! The war in Iraq drags on into its sixth year with no end in sight. One of the worst housing crises in U.S. history now threatens the global credit market as well as every county in our district. D.C. metro area transportation is worse than it has ever been, and the FTA is now likely to pull $900 million in Federal funding for “Rail to Dulles”. Health care costs continue to skyrocket. And our veterans must cope with a severely flawed and inadequate veteran’s assistance program.
  • Americans want new leaders who have the courage to take a stand, the vision that generates effective solutions, and the experience to put those solutions into practice! “Politics as usual” just isn’t good enough anymore. We are hungry for authenticity in our leaders. We seek candidates who have a proven track record of crafting lasting solutions in our complex world. We demand measurable progress based on bipartisan cooperation among elected officials who are dedicated to the common good. A public servant since the age of 17, I have proposed ground-breaking concepts and have worked successfully with diverse teams with competing interests to transform those concepts into reality. My Website presents my bio and personally authored issue papers that propose specific solutions to the urgent problems facing the 10th Congressional District and our nation.
  • I’m a Loudoun County Democrat who can appeal to the diverse voters of the 10th district. The 10th congressional district stretches from urban Fairfax County in the East to rural Frederick County in the West. In 2006, Senatorial candidate Jim Webb won this district while my opponent for the Democratic nomination this year, Judy Feder, lost to Frank Wolf by 16 percentage points. Like Senator Webb, I am a veteran and a fiscally responsible Democrat who can credibly reach out to Democrats, Independents, and Republicans across our entire district. For the first time in 28 years, voters who have supported Frank Wolf have a viable alternative candidate they can turn to. Frank Wolf is well-liked, but he is tired, and he has demonstrated his disengagement from national and local issues. It’s time for a change.

Your vote for me in the June 10th primary will make a difference. I encourage you to offer your valuable volunteer time and to make a donation to fuel our campaign!
